Busy week....sorry
I am sorry for the lack of posting this week, it being the last week of school means field trips, activity days, and award ceremonies. I am also behind the eight ball and do not have my "spring" chores done and have been frantically trying to get them done before the kids are home for the summer. I am hoping to have an incredibly active summer filled with hikes, parks, museums, fishing, and such. My wardrobe and scenery may be a little different! It should be fun though.

Look Ma....no jeans!
In my quest to do denim less at least twice a week I threw on this skirt, plus the weather is beautiful and that always makes me want to wear a skirt. I think this is a great compromise between dressy and casual. I tend to forget that a skirt/dress can be casual. I am reprogramming my brain on that one. :) I will definitely be on the hunt for more skirts like this. This is also the first time I have worn something more in the area of my natural waist. Strange at first but I like it. :)
WHAT:
Skirt: Gap

Sweater: Thrifted...$3 (It tends to get chilly at MOPS)

Quick!
This morning was literally a throw something on and go...I have no rhyme or reason to anything here. I was in a hurry and trying to look halfway put together FAST. I see other bloggers have a "go to" outfit for mornings such as these, but I am to moody for that. One day I can love an outfit and the next day just not feel like wearing it. Anybody else.....or am I the only one?
WHAT:
Jeans: Seven for all Mankind
Boots: Frye
T-shirt: Target
Cardigan: Target
Necklace: Target
Belt: Thrifted

Prom and more....
I have been tagged by a couple differnet people so I dug out the old photo albums and scanned away. My prom dresses were both hand made, and his vest and bow tie were made to match. I can't believe how time has flown, so much has happened in the years since then, but it seems like only the blink of an eye.

Ahhhh....Friday!
I am so glad it is Friday! We are headed to a "fly in" in Valdez tonight. We own a small plane and once a year Valdez hosts a fly in where hundreds of small planes from all over Alaska fly in and hang out. There are also vendors and a take off/landing competition. It's about a 1.5 hour flight away and the whole family is going. I've never flown to Valdez so I'm exited about the new scenery.
I scored this shirt at a thrift store last week! I wandered a little longer and found the belt...PERFECT MATCH! I walked out spending a whopping $3.50!!! I love the sleeves and the springy print.

Follow my Footsteps Friday....
As you may know, my daughter is the one who encouraged me to start a blog. I thought it would be a great project to do together and so the blog was born. She takes my photos and gives me "fashion advice" in the mornings while getting dressed. Since this is a joint project and she loves fashion we decided that to give her a weekly guest appearance. She proudly titled it "Follow my Footsteps Friday".

Belted....but NOT!
I'm trying something new in the avenue of belts today. My daughter whom helps me with this project has been telling me that it was getting boring everyday with the cardigan and belt. When the ladies over at academichic got this challenge, I decided to try and play along. I like this look, it is a replay of middle school fashion with Daisy Duke in the mix.
BLOG NOTE:
I get frustrated when I'm in my closet because jeans are such a staple item in my lifestyle. I CAN"T get away from them. I started this blog to try to get away from jeans, but I am realizing that is just not practical in this stage of my life. I decided to embrace and appreciate the fact that I don't have to go to work everyday, and what a blessing it is to be able to stay home with my kids. Thank You Awesome Husband, I LOVE you! In light of that I am redefining my mission with this blog to "dress up my jeans". I want to put to use new fashion trends and principles with a casual spin. As much as I would love to wear skirts and dresses everyday, SAHM's just can't.(or maybe I just can't) Vacuuming, dusting and poopy diapers don't allow it most days.
My revised goal: to be denim less at least twice a week.
I hope my blog doesn't get to boring. :) I apologize in advance.
