Pushing it a little further....

Today I'm pushing the envelope a little further with the mixing of patterns. I am really liking the look. You'll probably be seeing alot more experimentation with this. I've had this floral top from J-Crew for a long time and haven't worn it. It has this fabric belt in the same pattern as the shirt that ties under the bust. These types of belts never work for me...anyone else? I always end up using them as a scarf with an entirely different outfit. Anyway, the shirt has never been flattering on me. It made me look quite large to say the least. I think that with the contrast of patterns and the small simple braided belt it breaks it up a bit, giving it a much more appealing look.

Headed to Anchorage this afternoon to get my hair done!!!!! Thank goodness, I can hardly look at these photos without cringing. I LOATHE roots, which is why I am going back to all brown. :) The beautiful sunny weather outside made me break out a dress. Sunny weather is dress weather....don't you think?

As I was getting dressed this morning I realized that I have yet to see a duster on a blog.....Hmmmmm....Am I committing a fashion faux-paux?(how do you spell that?) Are they as out of style as tapered leg pants...oh wait they came back....big hair....coming back...acid wash jeans...also back..... cut off jeans....those too.....maybe I'm ok.... Oh well, I LOVE this duster, the color, the length, and most of all the crochet. :)

Experimenting with the leopard....again!

I'm feeling spunky this morning....hence the attire. The weather outside is dreary and cold, inside I have a TON of chores to do, so this is my attempt to spruce up my day.

Stripes and Spots...Oh my!

Today I'm living on the edge and mixing my stripes and my spots. As I was getting ready for church this morning I asked Awesome Husband the same question I always ask. Here is how it went:

Simple Saturday....

Yay, I won a prize! I apparently pull off the "Cheap Chic" look well. I'm taking it as a compliment because lets face it, with three kids and the hobbies we have, a girl has to find a bargain somewhere! I LOVE a good scarf!

Well today is the day....My two tear old is having his tooth surgically removed this afternoon. The worst part is that he has to get an IV and get hooked up to heart monitors etc.. Who knew that swinging on a swing could lead to all of this!!! To say the least I am a little nervous. Anyways, to combat the nervousness, I wore this great new scarf (new stuff always makes a girl more confident...right?) that I bought at Treasure Loft for a whopping dollar yesterday.

Big Brown Cape....

So it seems that this may be a casual week. The dentist visit yesterday did not go as planned and so my son has another appointment today with an oral surgeon. :( Of course this is only an consult, so I foresee at least one more appointment this week. Poor little guy.... I am loving that I don't have to wear a coat these days, however it is still not totally t-shirt weather up here so my winter sweaters are still in play.

**On another note I have a hair appointment tomorrow.(if it doesn't conflict with an emergency dental appointment) I'm thinking about deleting the current blond highlights and replacing them with an all over rich brown. What do you think?

Casually Nervous......

Today I will be spending the latter half of my day in the dentist's office. My son is finally going to have his tooth removed today. I am actually quite nervous. I'm not a squeamish or worrisome mother but he's only two years old and I'm sure that they will put him out for this. I guess I just don't really know what to expect. Ok... so back to what you are here for, I took it extremely casual today, I wanted to be exteriorly (I don't think that is a word) as comfortable as possible.

Business like.....

UPDATE:
If you read the previous post about my sons tooth being cracked in half and not being able to get an appointment with a pedo-dentist until Monday, here is an update.
He is doing fine with pain, he actually surprisingly seems to be unbothered by it all. Yesterday at lunch he was eating his PB&J and one half of his tooth fell out!!! So now my poor son is walking around with only half of his front tooth. :( I can't wait until Monday......If you can schedule getting hurt (which I know you can't) it would be wise to do it on a Tues, Wed, or Thur. Doctors don't work on Mondays or Fridays!!!!

Possibly ugly....but I like it anyway!

So my ensemble today is weird, funky and a little ugly but I like it anyway. I am calling it unique.:) The reason I love this sweater is solely for the little random snails it has on it. SNAILS????

Thrifty Scarf....

Casual Friday again....however I am digging my duds today. I feel like it is just the perfect amount of casual but still cute and fresh! Oh by the way, yes that is snow on the ground and yes I am wearing capri's with no socks and shoes with holes in them but that is what us Alaskans do. The first sign of summer and we all break out our summer duds. I see people all over town in flip flops and tank tops, at least I'm still wearing a sweater!

Today is not as crazy as I thought it would be. I thought I would be in a dentist office for the greater part of the day. My two year old hit his tooth on the swing set last night and cracked his tooth in half!!! Poor Baby :( I have been trying to find a pedo-dentist all morning and the best I can get is Monday afternoon. LAME!!! He doesn't seem to be in much pain and I have the cabinet stocked with children's Tylenol so Monday it is. We will also be going to my Dad's birthday dinner tonight.

First attempt...

One thing this blog has made me do is get more creative. I realize that jeans and a cute top simply is not that exiting day after day. I was browsing the clearance racks at good 'ole Target and came across this top/dress, I thought it was adorable and would be the perfect intro for me into the tunic/legging world. Leggings...Spandex...GASP! I was a little startled when I looked at the tag and it was actually an XS maternity top. After my surprise I was pleased with myself for thinking outside the box and re purposing a maternity top for my not so pregnant self!
